Legit Ranch Dip (Paleo, Whole30)

If you love ranch dip as much as I do, I know what you’re thinking right now. You’re thinking that a Paleo and Whole30 approved version can no way be as good as the real deal.

I hear your skepticism and ask you to bear with me. I tried tons of Paleo ranch recipes before and they were underwhelming to say the least.

I think it’s because a lot of Paleo ranch recipes call for coconut milk, and coconut milk can have a very distinct flavor. It also makes the ranch more liquidy, and if you’re like me and what you call ranch is sour cream mixed with a Hidden Valley packet, then a runny and coconut milk tasting ranch just wouldn’t cut it.

So I decided to make my own version, with the ingredients that I use in a lot of my ranch flavored recipes. To me, dill and parsley have to be included if you’re making ranch. And went from there. I know the ingredient list can look a bit daunting, but most of those are just spices. It’s not complicated, this is dip is made in less than 5 minutes.

What you get is a thick ranch dip that can be used as a dip for veggies, chips, potatoes, chicken and so on. The possibilities are endless.

This dip has made my January Whole30 a lot more tasty.

Ingredients:
1 egg, room temperature
1 tbsp vinegar, I use red wine vinegar
1 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp dried dill*
1 tsp dried parsley*
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
1 cup extra light tasting olive oil

Add all the ingredients to a tall mason jar or cup, adding the oil in last.

Once all the ingredients settle, place the immersion blender in the jar until it reaches the bottom.

Turn the immersion blender on high. The liquid will begin to turn into ranch in a few seconds.

Move the immersion blender up and down until all the oil is incorporated. Now you have kickass legit ranch dip!

Enjoy!

*I like to add my dried dill and parsley to a mortal and pestle and grind them until they are almost like powder. I find it gives the ranch a better texture.

*Store in a covered glass jar for up to a week in the fridge.
